Main Beach

Main Beach is a stunning 32km stretch of white sandy beach starting south of the Gorge walk at Point Lookout. It is the most popular beach for surfers.

A popular beach for 4WDing (permit required), fishing - and collecting pipis, walks, swimming and surfing. Wildlife such as Kangaroos, Wallabies, Ospreys, Sea Eagles, Oyster Catchers and other migrating birds frequent the area daily and Green turtles visit the beach to nest from November.

Dogs on lead only - this protects the native flora and fauna. (A dog friendly beach is Home Beach).

You can drive down the entrance of Main beach without a permit and continue on foot for a long walk or fish the gutters in close. If you're not up for the walk, enjoy the breathtaking view from above at the Surf Life Saving Club or off the Gorge Walk on the headlands.
