North Stradbroke Island has three townships – Amity Point and Dunwich are located on the shores of Moreton Bay while Point Lookout is on the ocean side of the island with its endless surfing beaches and spectacular headlands and walking tracks.
Boats can easily be launched from both Amity Point and Dunwich Boat Ramps and from the beach at Point Lookout (with a 4WD and weather permitting). Please note that it is essential to have a 4WD Beach Permit if you are going to drive on the beach. Annual Beach Permits are available from our office ($44.50) and must be purchased and placed on your vehicle before driving on the beach.
Most people visit Straddie to enjoy its beautiful beaches, abundant bird and wildlife, bushwalking, snorkelling and diving and during the winter months (from June to October) to observe the annual migration of the Humpback Whales. Point Lookout is world renowned as a land based whale watching destination.
