Baroque virtuosi

The festival opens with some musical fireworks this year! We are thrilled to welcome Sara Macliver and Neal Peres da Costa to the island for the first time, where they will help us present an electrifying concert of Baroque virtuosity.

Intimate decisions

Two of Australia’s best-known composers are featured in this program, along with two of Mozart’s wind and string chamber works. Iain Grandage and Brett Dean both wrote works focusing on their own instruments: Grandage’s ethereal solo cello piece Flying Dream and Dean’s haunting Intimate Decisions for solo viola.

Intimate letters

An afternoon of music reflecting love, life and passion. Schumann’s setting of Frauenliebe und -leben (A Woman’s Love and Life) is followed by Janáek’s poetic second string quartet, inspired by some 700 letters written between him and Kamila Stösslová.

Kristin Berardi and James Sherlock

Winner of the Montreux Jazz festival’s international vocal competition, Kristin Berardi sings jazz standards and originals, accompanied by James Sherlock on guitar, at the ever-popular evening concert at the SLSC.

Viva Italia

A perfect way to spend a Sunday morning! We celebrate Italian string music with this effervescent program. The sublime soprano Sara Macliver closes the concert with Respighi’s beautiful setting of Shelley’s poem ‘The Sunset’.
